Default Forcing OE to display full addresses (not just screen names) in To:, Cc:, etc

Thanks for a clear explanation.

I'll trust the expert that "it has been the case in all versions of OE," but
it makes me wonder what it was that I perceived as a distinct change after
some upgrade, probably a couple of years ago (pre-WinXP). (It's just been a
nagging little annoyance since, and something finally clicked to make me ask
about it.) Maybe just more gradual changes in people's habits (e.g., not
formerly using a 'friendly name'), maybe just hallucinating again.

But, but ... it's such a vivid recollection that in responding to newsgroup
posts, for instance, I used to be able to edit a munged address without
having to cut and paste it from the header in the quoted material. Ah well.

Again, thanks for clearing it up.

OE always shows the "friendly name" and never the e-mail address unless
there is no friendly name.

For messages you receive, you have no control over that. It's whatever
the sender used.

For messages that you send, you'd have to use the e-mail address as the
friendly name or as part of it.

There is no option in OE to change this and it has been the case in all
versions of OE.
