To keep it in the same thread means to find the most recent message that
you want to reply to, select the message, then click the REPLY link (web
interface) or REPLY GROUP (if using Outlook Express) rather than
starting a NEW message.

That way the messages and their replies are linked together (threaded)
rather than being random messages.
