Default mail service confusion

I just reset my OX settings and sent test letters which went through. I then
went to Hotmail and now can open the notifications such as yours - when I
click on reply I am now directed to the post so I appear all set.
I'll be glad to answer any questions that will help clarify this issue.
Thank you

Hotmail is Not a newsgroup reader. It is mail only. That is why you
can't select it as the news reader in your Internet options.

If you don't want to use Outlook Express for reading newsgroups, you can
use the Microsoft Web interface for reading Microsoft newsgroups, as you
have done here. For other newsgroups you would have to use whatever web
interface they support.

As for the notifications, I presume that you have set in the web
interface to be notified when your message is replied to and supplied
your Hotmail e-mail address.

You mention that with the notifications, the links work 60% of the time.
What happens with the other 40%? Does it take you to a different
message in the newsgroup, or a different newsgroup or something else?

Perhaps I want to much;here is my goal:
1-I have xp sp2 and use Comcast web based server as my regular mail.
2-I use my Hotmail account for most web/secondary contacts.
3-I wish to use hotmail for my newsgroups
4-Under programs in internet options, I see that I can choose hotmail
under
ail but under news there is only outlook express.
OX is not a secure program and I'd prefer not to use it. Btw, I have
tried
multiple times to set up acounts via ox but it never works out.
I gave my email address in newsgroups as my Hotmail one.
Problem is that on occasions when I get notifications from newsgroups,
I
have to go to newsgroups and searh for it. 60% of the time wnen I
click on
the notification from newsgroups in Hotmail, does it take me to the
relevant
post.
Is it possible to have the regular mail thru Comcast, secondary mail
via
Hotmail and newgroups thru Hotmail Llive?
