Never had Word or MS Office. I have Works 8. My message has "Spelling"
with a red check mark over it, but when I click on it now it says it's
preparring to install Microsoft Greeting 2001. Can't imagine what that
means. I did a system restore but that didn't fix it.

OE 6 does not come with it's own spell check. You need Word or an MS
Office program. The spell checker in Works 4 through 6 will work with OE,
but not other editions. If you do not have such a program, you can
download a free spell check at one of these sites.
