Default Outgoing mail problems

Does AOL support what I am trying to do?

No. See http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#relay550

What you're trying to do is the equivalent of trying to mail a letter in
Canada with a US postage stamp on it. wink If it's a
account, the messages must be sent using oldISP's outgoing mail server.
Conversely, if you're sending using AOL's outgoing mail server
(smtp.aol.com), the message must be sent using your
account.

Contact AOL Support for more assistance.

I've just signed up with AOL to act as my ISP. I have non-AOL e-mail
addresses. I get Error Message 550 whenever I try to send a mail using
these
addresses via Outlook Express. My smtp server is the smtp.aol.com server
with port 587. But no luck.

Any ideas? Does AOL support what I am trying to do?
