I'll have access to the offending machine again
tomorrow and I suspect that it is indeed an A/V
problem. I seem to recall that the machine has
Norton A/V installed. And, since I don't use
that product it didn't occur to me that it might
be causing problems. I use AVG without the
e-mail scanning installed, so my mind just
didn't think about A/V as a cause.
I'll post back after I've had a chance to check
it out.
And no, the e-mail never makes it to the Sent
Items nor does it appear in the Outbox.
Thanks Bruce,
Bill

What exactly happens when you try?
Does it leave the Outbox?
Does it arrive in Sent Items?
Is e-mail scanning enabled?
Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant
layer of protection that eats up CPUs, slows down sending and receiving,
and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting
changes and has even been responsible for lose of messages. Your
up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For

What would cause OE 6 to suddenly fail to
send e-mails with attachments. It can send
and receive e-mails without any attachments,
but won't send an e-mail with any files
attached. No errors or anything else is
reported.
I don't see anything on the Security tab for
outgoing restrictions or conditions.
