Default Contents of inbox gone.

Outlook Express: The contents of my inbox have dissapeared. I have renamed
the inbox.dbx and a new inbox.dbx is created but still no e-mails appear.
Will I need to reload Outlook Express and if so, how do I go about it?
(Windows XP with IE7, SP2 and all updates)
I have copied the original inbox and tried to import to outlook express on
another PC but, although it goes through the motions no e-mails are imported.
I can receive e-mails on that PC though.
