Correction, since version 2000 - it has been longer than you think. To back up all of your Outlook data, copy the .pst file when Outlook is completely closed.

Outlook hasn't used a PAB since version 2002.....all your Contacts are to be
found in the Contacts folder within your pst file. The addressbook is merely
a view of that contacts folder, in order to facilitate inserting email
addresses into messages.
