Old files in OE
I don't know why either. Just the way the program was designed I suppose.

Okay, I did as you suggested, deleting the dbx files that I don't need.
Then
I compacted the folders. I noticed that I neglected to delete one of the
old
dbx files and it's still there after compacting. It's not really a
problem,
I'm just trying to understand why OE doesn't get rid of them
automatically.

Deleting a folder in the Folder Tree, does not usually delete it from the
message store.
Follow up by compacting your folders.
Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: FileWork Offline (or double click Working Online in the
Status
Bar).
FileFolderCompact all folders. Don't touch anything until the
compacting
is completed.

But what's it doing there in the first place?

On the dbx file: Right click | Delete.

I noticed that when I make a backup of my OE files, there are dbx
files
for
folders that I deleted long ago. How do I get rid of them?
