Default Not saving password

This /is/ the Outlook Express logon password you created and not an identity
password, correct?

In Tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Servers, is the correct password
entered and is the box checked to Remember Password? Does the box become
unchecked?

Thanks for your post. This is my first time using this resource so I'm
progressing up the learning curve.

I found your first reference earlier and in following it ran into a brick
wall, hence my post to this group. As you are aware, it deals with using
the
applications software interface to try and solve the problem AND if that
doesn't work, use the registry editor. I tried adding an identity in OE
and
deleting the default 'Main Identity' without any success.

Your second reference (290684) was new to me and I like it since it deals
specifically with the editing of the registry. This is also referred to
in
the above reference. With an aplolgy for my previous 'distilled' version,
I'll describe what happens. I used 290684 as my 'program' and took some
screen shots as well.

After I choose 'permission' from the Edit menu in Registry Editor, I get a
dialog box that shows 4 entries - all are identified as 'Allow.' 3 of the
4
show 'Full Control' and the other (RESTRICTED) shows 'Read.' There are 2
options that can be checked. The first starts 'Inherit from parent the
permission.....' It is checked. The second is the one referred to
'Replace
permission entries....' When I check that one and hit the apply button I
get
a Security warning message that starts out 'This will remove explicitly
defined permissions....' With a choice of yes or no. I choose yes.
There
is a bit of a blink and the screen then shows the dialog box with the
second
check mark missing - the same as it was when I started this part of the
operation. When I try to delete the key I get another query as to yes or
no,
I respond yes and then I get a "Error Deleting Key' message that states
'Cannot delete S-1-5-21-4074520820-1956087346-1005: Error while deleting
key.'

And that is where I was when I started this series of threads.

I would appreciate any suggestions you have.

Thanks

Using Outlook Express 6 on WinXP Pro. Password on POP acct not being
saved.
Have read many threads and found Knowledge Base article on the problem.
I
have tried all of the options and all fail. The option to delete key
from
register doesn't work. When I try to delete the key I get a message
that
delete failed because of....some words which I currently forget. If
its
important let me know.

Thanks for your help.

Not a big deal, but a pain in the butt.
