Default Can't created groups or use addresses in contact list ...

You're posting very incomplete and inconsistent information.
Time for you to state accurately how you transferred your data. State
accurately what works now and what doesn't.
Did you backup your data before you tried this transfer?

No I can't create a D-List from current addressess.
Yes, the addresses are underlined when I open one of the contacts.
Outlook doesn't seem to recognize them. If I cut and paste into another
email (ie. yahoo) they work fine ....

Also, as far as your distribution lists are concerned, they were
definitely
lost. They never survive export and import.

I have a smiliar problem to Gary, I transferred contacts from an old
computer
with an older version of Outlook into Outlook XP using the export and
import
commands.
I see the contacts but when I go to enter an address an the To field,
it
closes the window or is blank. I can manually type an addr. and send an
email
I just can't use any of the email addressses from my contact list.
Nor can I create a distribution list. When I go to add a name all I get
is
a
semi colon.

Thanks, I'll also try the fix you gave gary....
