Default Custom.dic - moving and sharing

Mike --

In HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE the data value is "F:\Dictionary
(Microsoft)\CUSTOM.DIC"
(without the quotes). This is my changed value.

In HKEY_CURRENT_USER the data value is just given as CUSTOM.DIC without a
path. I have not changed this.

I took another look at that article. It shows the key as under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shared Tools\Proofing Tools\Custom
Dictionaries

I looked at my PC and the key is under HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Which key did you change?

I changed the registry entry for the Custom.dic to my F: drive and then
rebooted. Word97 recognizes this change. However, OE6 does not. It still
opens the Custom.dic at C:\Documents and settings\Don Culp\Application
data\Microsoft\Proof. If I delete this Custom.dic then when OE6 restarts
it just recreates Custom.dic at the same location but without any
entries.

It's possible the have them share a common Custom.dic. The registry
says where it is located.

Is there any way to move OE6's Custom.dic dictionary from its default
folder to another folder? Of course, OE6 would have to recognize the
new folder.

Since MS Office also uses a Custom.dic, can OE6 and MS Office share
the same Custom.dic without interfering with each other?

Thanks,
Don Culp
