Default Can't send Replies to the Group ???

You are welcome

In what way did you have a problem sending the thank you? Did you use
the Reply in the newsgroup? That should open your default mail program.
When reading a newsgroup in OE, "Reply Group" always uses OE, but
"Reply" uses whatever is set as your default mail program, and not
necessarily OE.

OLEXP: "Send To" and E-mail Links Do Not Work with Outlook Express

Also, in Windows XP: Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Set Program
Access and Defaults, Email and select Outlook Express.

If a thread is very deep, the References: header gets too long.
Unlike
some other news readers, OE does not know how to trim the line.

The one workaround in OE is to start a new thread.

Another workaround is to start the post, then do a File, Save As to an
NWS file. Edit the NWS file in Notepad and manually trim the
References
line (i.e. remove all but the first and last entries) then save the
file, double click it from the Windows File Explorer to open and
complete the post.

Another fix is to use
Outlook Express PowerTool

Here's a new one for you. Tried to send a Thank you
and it won't send. Get the following error msg.

"Outlook Express could not post your message.
Subject ' Lost Group Addresses - Can I get
them back ?', Account: 'Microsoft', Server: 'msnews.
microsoft.com', Protocol: NNTP, Server Response:
'441 (629) Article Rejected -- Ill-formed message id
'
in field 'References:'', Port: 119, Secure(SSL): No,
Server Error: 441, Error Number: 0x800CCCA9"

I have no trouble posting to the Newsgroup or
sending other e-mails.
