The point is this - I am using Auto Formatting to color code all messages
received from given vendors (such as @xyz.com), but this does not work
correctly when a nickname is used because the nickname ("Johnny" in this
case) replaces the actual e-mail address ).

I'm just trying to see if Outlook has a function to ignore the "nickname" in
favor of the actual name...

That is the choice of the sender, not your Outlook. You can right click
and
look up the sender in your Contacts.
