Ad-Aware 2007's "Guard.exe" service should have been disabled prior to
installing SP3. NAV should have been disabled prior to installing SP3.

Explain, please. And tell us what computer you were referring to.
The above notwithstanding for now, Windows Desktop Search is a known-cause
for this behavior. Repost:
Uninstall Windows Desktop Search, reboot, and see if the behavior
persists.

2.-NAV 2008, Ad-Aware
Ad-Aware SE, Ad-Aware 2007, or Ad-Aware 2008?
Repost: Were EITHER of these applications running when you installed
WinXP
SP3?
3.-Win Live mail is default
Have you or anyone else ever used Outlook Express on this machine?
4.-No outlook express in add/remove
Note that I asked about Add/Remove *Windows Components*, not Add/Remove
*Programs*. Which one are you referring to?
6.-Win desktop search Installed
Uninstall Windows Desktop Search, reboot, and see if the behavior
persists.

Is WinXP SP3 installed and did this problem only start after you
installed
WinXP SP3?

Yes I have upgraded to SP3
Please answer ALL of these questions by number:
1. Did you install WinXP SP3 via Windows Update or manually? When did
you
install WinXP SP3? May I assume this behavior only started after you
installed WinXP SP3?
2. What anti-virus application or security suite is installed? What
anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)? What third-party
firewall
(if any)? Were ANY of these applications running when you installed
WinXP
SP3?
3. Is Windows Live Mail installed as your default Mail Client? If not,
what is your default Mail Client now (e.g., Thunderbird; Eudora; none)
and
was Windows Live Mail ever installed?
4. Open Add/Remove Programs | open Add/Remove Windows Components: Is
the
"Outlook Express" option checked or unchecked? If checked and you
uncheck
it & reboot, does the prompt to compact OE folders persist?
5. Are you using an IBM Rapid Access keyboard or is RAKDLL.DLL present
on
the machine (e.g., in C:\System32 =this folder)?
6. Is Windows Desktop Search installed?
7. Are any Nero plug-ins installed?
8. Is MailWasher installed? If so, what version is it? If not, has it
ever been installed?
