One thing I REALLY HATE about Outlook and Office.....
Microsoft wanting the user to learn to do it the way the software needs you
to do it is one of the reasons that MAC is gaining in popularity among all
my friends.
It would be nice if little things like this could be fixed. Easy said from
a person that is not on their programming staff....

If users don't change messages in preview while the attachment is open it
will be saved back to the original message. Users need to learn to use the
Save as button, not Save. You can also move the securetemp folder so its
easier to find the message.

The main problem is that most people don't open emails anymore, they use
the preview pane...
Ideally, that functionality should also work when viewing an email from
the preview pane.

No, they don't need it changed to a Save as button because it is
possible to save the updates to the attachment - plus it would be
difficult for the application to detect the document was opened from an
email message.

However, it IS 2008...
One would think that Microsoft could find a way to fix this issue, or
at least shut off the "Save" button and require a "Save As"...
To have hit "Save" and have it disappear is so disheartening.

I really hate the fact that I open an email, open the attachment (word
or
Publisher) , then spend 4 hours editing a document someone sent me.
I press save, and close the document.
I open Word or Publisher again to work on the file, and It is not in
the
recent documents list.
Then I remember that it was an attachment in an email - Open that
attachment
again, but what I get is the un-edited version.
The version that I worked on for 4 hours is GONE!
This happens in Outlook, as well as Live mail.
Really sucks to be me right now.
Any way to get these documents back?
/cl
They are possibly in your Temp or Temp/internet folders......BTW, this
happens with ALL email clients, not just MS ones....
