Yikes! It works. PS, discovered you can open both the source and store folder
locations, drag and drop, then change the file name, bypassing the clipboard
step. Bye the way, how come there are two paths after Local
Settings\Application Data\Identities? They both lead to Microsoft\Outlook
Express then the .dbx folders. Seems a bit confusing. Just curious.
Thanks for the "step by step", that made it easy.

What's a OE store folder and where is it?
See http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm
NOTE: In WindowsXP, the OE user files (i.e., DBX files) are marked as hidden
by default. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show
Hidden Files and Folders via Start | Control Panel | Folder Options | View
(cf. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...torial62.html).
Does the * in *.dbx mean the specific folder I want to import?
The asterisk ( * ) is a "wildcard" that can stand for the /name/ of the
folder you want to import.
Let's say you want to import the file MOMMAIL.DBX:
1. Open OE and create a new local folder by right-clicking on LOCAL FOLDERS
(at the top of the list in Folders pane) and selecting NEW FOLDER, and name
it TEMP.
2. Open (click on) the new (and empty) folder named TEMP once.
3. 'OE Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder' will reveal the
location of your store folder. Write it down.
4. Close OE.
5.. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to your store folder (#3 above), find
and delete the file TEMP.DBX. Leave Windows Explorer open to the store
folder.
6. Now right-click on MOMMAIL.DBX (wherever it's located) and COPY it to
your clipboard.
7. PASTE the contents of your clipboard into the store folder | Right-click
on MOMMAIL.DBX and RENAME it to TEMP.DBX, then close Windows Explorer.
8. Open OE and the messages should be found in the local OE folder named
TEMP. You can drag the messages into another OE folder, or you can just
rename the TEMP folder to MOMMAIL (or any other name, as long as you don't
already have an OE folder by that name).
It's really a simple procedure. Don't think about what you're doing or why
or how it works, just follow the above instructions.

Told you I was a novice. "Close OE and rename "Temp.dbx" in your OE store
folder. Now copy the *.dbx to be imported into the store folder and rename
it to "Temp.dbx". OK, What's a OE store folder and where is it? Does the *
in *.dbx mean the specific folder I want to import? I think I could handle
it from there.
Thanks ........

As a relative novice, I'm mostly confused by the links I see posted on
handling missing folders in OE. I know how to find the .dbx files
through
c:\documents and settings etc., but when I import a file to OE it opens
empty, even though there are messages in it. Is there a "follow the
bouncing
ball" set of instructions on how to move a .dbx file (folder) back to OE
with all the messages intact? I have OE6 and Windows XP. Thanks for any
help. Dave G.
