Default How come my email is stuck in my outbox?

I am not on an exchange server just a POP account and am using the default
sent folder.

what type of email account and are you storing sent in a folder other than
the Sent folder on your local machine?

I have this same problem. It is not consistent nor is there a rhyme or
reason which ones send or do not; and some emails have been delivered
even though it stays in the outbox and says "mail not sent". It is
especially prevalent on emails sent to multiple contacts.

for the marked read problem:

are you clicking F9 or the Send/Receive button? if so, are you getting
any errors in the progress dialog? (tools, send/receive, send/receive
settings, show progress.)

William, I did not change any settings...and, yes, I am on line....I
have a
cable hookup (comcast). I can receive email but when I send it goes
right to
the outbox and stays there. If I open the outbox it will sit on top of
the
list (in bold letters) and then it will change to italics and move to
the
bottom of the list.

1) are you online at the time?
2) check your account settings? outbound smtp server is reachable?
