Default OE Image insert blocked.

Hi Jim, thanks for your help. I am using Windows XP version 2002 and Outlook
express 6.

Will start with the filter. Yes I do have a spam filter, but I love it. In
the past 466 emails, 319 or 68% have been spam. How big of a problem is
this. I understand that they system will look after itself, but I really
don't want to have to deal with this mass spam that finds its way to my
inbox. Each time I set up a site, or register in a forum I get more.

Re source code, I can select any image within the drop box that opens up, so
altering the source code will let me put an alternate picture in, but it
still wont close the 'picture drop box' (the problem is that the box won't
close without cancelling no matter what I do). Also, the secondary 'Picture
drop box' (the one that appears whilst browsing) has the same problem. It
will let me select an image from the chosen file, but if I try a function key
such as cancel it wont work either, leaving me the only option of selecting
an image from that box or cancelling (selecting the image puts the
appropriate html for that image, but when I insert it into the email, the
original 'picture drop box' wont cancel). Vicious circle.

Not sure how large my store folder is, but I don't have a lot of emails on
my system. The two major things noted however are (1) I recently uploaded my
address book with up to 500 email addresses for my work newsletter (2) I was
getting notices to compact but ignored them as I wasn't sure about that
process (silly me).

Now I can't compact due to a error message saying file in use (but I was
offline with all programs and files closed so don't know why this is
occuring). On other occasions it didn't give me an error, but simple went
through a 5 second read of files, didn't bug out, but did nothing more??? I
don't think it compacted the files??? Do you see any evidence of this
function as it is working? When I tried it again within a few minutes I got
the error message???

If it is the suggested curruption in the message store folder, do you know a
fix for this.

Many thanks for your assistance, I have searched long and hard for a fix
without any luck.

Thanks - Johnno.

What operating system are you using? What version of Outlook Express as
shown in the Help/About screen. Are you also running some type of antivirus
program and have it set to scan incoming/outgoing mail? Have you attempted
to alter the source code of your HTML messages to indicate the file path to
the desired images? How large is your message store folder?

Try compacting while working offline (click File/Work Offline and then
follow up with File/Folders/Compact All Folders and let it run to completion
without using the computer for any other task. It sounds like some
corruption has already taken place in your messaqe store folder.

Please help. Attempting to insert image in outgoing email. When I click
'insert' 'picture' then 'browse' to select image, it appears in a set
folder
and wont allow me to browse additional folders. No options work (except
for
selecting an image in that folder). If I select one of them, the image
appears in the email but the box wont close. Only way out is to
control/alt/delete and cancel. Have rebooted, deleted cookies, files
(offline as well). Was unable to compact all files - error message saying
'file in use'. All closed and offline and unable to detect what would be
in
use. Any suggestions for a very aggrivating problem?
