Default can not send longer messages AGAIN

If I try to send a message of about 300k about half way thru my modem shows
no data going out and about a minute later I receive this: This occurs with
message that are longer than 50-100k. No definite starting point.

A time out of 120 seconds occurred from your pop server, would you like to
continue?

reply NO

"A time-out occurred while communicating with the server. Subject 'Fw: Union
Rules', Account: 'POP.SONIC.NET', Server: 'MAIL.SONIC.NET', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC19"

I have had help here before with no cure but I did find a workaround--make a
new identity--which will work for days to weeks before needing new identity
again. This is a lot of work with mail moving, rules, newsgroups, etc.

I am running a fast computer running XP Pro-sp2.

Drive has 30GB free

IGB memory-no other Programs running at time of problem.

Clean-spybot and others

defragged recently

Have completely removed Avast in previous attempts with no help.

Your thoughts please--It's a real annoyance and restricts business uses IE
big excel files.

Going crazy "short trip"
