Awesome thanks.
I had some figuring out to do, but you got me in the right direction. Now,
what i need to attend to TODAY - appears a custom colour from the BEGINNING
of the day!

Nothing to trick or filter - create automatic formatting rules to color
items due today.

Thank you for your prompt reply.
the issue is that I don't want to filter things out {that scares me}. I
really just want to have the list of tasks fo TODAY show in red from 9am
in
the morning, as opposed to them only turning red after 5pm in the evening!
Is this simple, or do I need to trick Outlook?
Thanks again!

Sure... customize the view.
The example at http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2008/up080424.htm#3 shows
how
to filter by date - you'll want to set up automatic formatting rules for
tasks due now.
