i am embarrassed to say i don't remember the old password which is why i
changed it. i have a msn narrowband unlimited access account. But it all
worked until i changed the freaking password. as of right now i have
done
everything you guys have suggested and i do appreciate your time. again,
this happened once before after a hard drive crash. i ended up getting
walked thru a couple of registry edits to get it working. i have been
trying for several days to get ms live support to help but i am still
getting shuffled around.

Okay, so i think i have an msn.com legacy account running thru a
pop3.live.com server. what ever i have it was running until i changed
my
password. i have deleted my account i have tried new accounts and new
identities. all return the same error message. i tried a new account
on
my
daughter's laptop running xp. same error message. i do appreciate
everybody's effort

Thanks for chiming in here, winston.

@map: Do this, too:

IE (yes, IE) Tools | Internet Options | Privacy | Sites| type in

live.com
msn.com
hotmail.com

and Allow cookies for each domain, in turn (i.e., do it 3 times, once
for
each domain).

For [map]:
a: If you successfully used pop3.live.com in the past you have an
msn.com
legacy account or a Windows Live Hotmail Plus account. (See section
V:
(a)
and (b) b. Your error message(authorization) indicates a few
possible
items
- corrupt account in OE (to fix, remove and create new, do not
import
using an iaf file) - not using the full in the
incoming
mail server
username field and the outgoing mail server field. Separately ensure
the
correct password is entered and the check box to
remember enabled. Explicit instructions for pop3 account setup
can
be
found here.

c. Fyi...there are no legacy pop3 accounts from 1995 that are
name.live.com accounts, they are all accounts.
