Default auto archiving

Thanks, Brian. I'll look into the both the options you suggest. It also
occured to me last night that I could probably achieve similar results by
simply telling outlook to autoarchive mail over 30 days and then schedule a
task to run at the end of each month to simply rename archive.pst to
yyyymm.pst with a simple batch file.

I've got a mailbox that receives admin logs. On the first of each
month I want to automatically archive all mail from the preceeding
month into a file named for the month, i.e.; on August 1st I want to
archive all mail from July to july08.pst. Can that be done with
outlook 2003 or would that require a reskit or 3rd party tool?

Autoarchiving in Outlook doesn't work on specific dates, it uses
intervals. If an item hasn't been modified for a specified interval (one
month, seven days, etc.), then autoarchive will move the item to the
archive PST. To accomplish what you describe would take code or a
third-party tool, as you surmise. http://www.outlookcode.com/ has
examples of code and, while I don't know that any third-party tools exist,
you can start here in your search:

descriptions appear close to what you want.
