While I don't know if there is an issue with any ScanPST version around the
2gb mark (will gladly leave that for someone else to answer) - there are a
few tidbits of info you neglected to include:
#1 - Current version of Outlook in use
#2 - Version of Outlook PST file that you are running ScanPST against
My personal experience with running ScanPST for an Outlook '2007
installation on a PST file created for an earlier version has been less than
stellar but never had any version crash.

I have a PST file that is about 1.97 GB in size. Outlook says it is
corrupt
and can't open, to run scanpst.exe. I do run the program on the pst file
but
it crashes around step 4. I copy the file and move it to two other
computers
thinking there is something wrong with my computer. And those two
programs
crash also...
Is there a new version of scanpst that won't crash? Or is there a third
party software that you would recommend?
