That was it!! It works now. I never even heard of that option... and never
would have looked there. I never had to worry about that before (with OL
2002). My addresses were set to "Let Outlook Decide the Best Format"

Open the Contact record of the person to whom you're trying to send the
invitation. Double-click the email address. Examine the "Internet
Format" drop-down. What does it say?
