I cannot export or backup anything from my OE 6!

When I try to do the command (doen't matter what format I choose), this
error message appears:

"The export could not be performed. An error occured while initializing
MAPI"

I am running W2k.
How can I solve this problem? Can I deactivate the MAPI service and get it
to work, or...?
Need your help here guys, who know a bit more!
