Under Start Menu is "Address Book." It's not called Windows Address Book, but
I assume that's the same thing. When I start it, in the left column is 2
icons; "Shared Contacts" and "Main Identity's Contacts." When I click on
"Shared Contacts" there are none. When I click on "Main Identity's Contacts,"
I see my 100 names listed. I imported t hese last month, and it worked.
In About, the version number is: 6.00.2600
It lists the path for File:
C:\documents and settings\ahip coordinator\Application
Data\Microsoft\Address Book\ahip coordinator.wab
thank you,
Bill

No. Windows XP Fax will use the default addressing service you set for your
operating system.
State more clearly how you made that designation. What do you see when you
launch the WAB from your start menu? What changes did you make to your
system before the problem began?

I've done that and it still doesn't work. In Control Panel, programs,
then
Contact List, it's set for Address Book. I have the same problem, Start
in
Word, then Print, change to Fax, Fax Wizard comes up. I click on Address
Book
from within Fax Wizard, the Address Book shows up, but there are no names
listed.
I think this needs a "Troubleshooting" solution, not a "Setup" solution.
It
was set up correctly last month and was working. Now it's not working. Is
there a Preference File I can delete or change something in RegEdit to
force
it to "reset" or even remove and reinstall the faxing feature?
Thank you,
Bill

Simple. Tell your OS to use the Windows Address Book as its default
instead
of Outlook in Control Panel Internet Options.

The program is Windows XP Fax.

I want my fax software to use my Windows Address Book. The names and
fax
numbers are already there. I don't need Outlook on this computer.
Thank you,
Bill

You failed to specify your fax software. Read it's Help files.
Discover
which address book it integrates with and how to specify that choice.
Clearly you have your Contacts in the Windows Address Book, not
Outlook.
If
you want your fax software to use your Outlook Contacts, then you
better
have some Outlook Contacts. And don't ever use a Personal Address
Book.

Thanks for your response.
It's actually the FAXING program that i want to be able to access
the
FAX
phone numbers that are already entered in the address book.
The Fax Wizard comes up, and then I click on Address Book from
WITHIN
the
Faxing program. That's where the names and fax numbers are not
showing
up.
Thank you,
Bill

I have a computer set up as a fax server, to be used for faxing
only.
I have the address book set up. When I choose Address Book, under
start
menu, all 100 names show up. On the left side, main identity
contacts
folder,
is selected.
The Windows Address Book and Outlook's Contacts folders aren't the
same
thing.
I want to send a fax. I go to Word, write the letter, choose
Print,
change
it to FAX, click OK. Send fax wizard comes up.
When I click on Address Book, it comes up, but the existing
names/numbers
do
not show up. Under “Show names from” it has Personal Address Book
and
Contacts, but both show no names.
Enter your contacts into Outlook's Contacts folder is you want Word
to
be
able to access the addresses.
