I have trolled through the questions here and found similar problems to
mine
but none of the suggestions I've tried have fixed my problem.

Firstly, I have Office 2007 on a new computer and I am dealing with
entering
new contact details not existing ones. Nor am I dealing with imported
contacts.

When I enter a name in the Full Name field as Fiona Marshall, it will
place
Fiona in the last name area and Marshall in the full name area. If I then
go
into the "Check Full Name" box, and change the first name from Marshall to
Fiona and the last name from Fiona to Marshall. The full name will then
display as Marshall Fiona.

I have go into account settings and changed tried it in both settings.
Neither of which seemed to make a difference to the full name field.

I have also gone into the contact options area and tried a variety of
different settings with the full name and file as settings. And no matter
what I try if I enter the full name as Fiona Marshall it still thinks
Marshall is the First Name and Fiona the Full Name.

This does only seem to effect the full name entry - the file as picks up
the
last name and first name correctly.
