Compatibility between OUTLOOK EXPRESSWINDOWS XP SP3SOME SM
Mike,
For all special tests I have done, I disabled my Antivirus (McAfee) checks
for inbound and outbound e-mail messages checking.
Yes, my Internet ADSL provider thru which I am connected is always
TELEFONICA.NET.
My tests are basically sending myself an e-mail to
using
SMTP server port 25. And I never receive that
e-mail message thru POP3 server port 110.
But if I send myself an e-mail message thru other ISP's SMTP port 25 to
POP3 server port 110, I ALWAYS RECEIVE THE MESSAGE OK.
All e-mail accounts setup at Outlook Express were setup and tested OK long
time ago (3 or 4 years) and I have not made any change from then to now.
Same e-mail accounts setup were made and tested OK in Office 2007 Outlook,
and I have no actually any problem with them. The problem is only when using
Outlook Express when Windows XP Service Pack 3 update is installed.
If I do not install Windows XP Service Pack 3, there is NO TROBLEM using any
e-mail account for outbound or inbound messages.

I can't see any way that SP3 would cause your problem.
If I follow you correctly, your only problem is with sending via one
SMTP mail server.
Are the ones that work also set up in Outlook Express?
Are you connected to the Internet via TELEFONICA.NET when you try to
send via their SMTP mail server?
If the messages is automatically moved to the Outlook Express Sent Items
folder, then OE got confirmation from the SMTP mail server that it
accepted the message. One potential problem is if your anti-virus
software is scanning outgoing mail, it inserts itself between OE and the
real SMTP mail server and presents itself to OE as if it were the SMTP
mail server. So if the anti-virus software is malfunctioning, it could
OE that the message has been accepted when it hasn't been sent to the
SMTP mail server.
Also, try sending a message to your TELEFONICA.NET e-mail address via
the TELEFONICA.NET SMTP mail server and see if that make it.

Some weeks ago I received information refering my sent e-mail messages
not
being received at destination. After several tests using several ISPs
e-mail accounts I arrived to the conclusion that only when using
TELEFONICA.NET SMTP the messages not arrived to destination. No
changes were
made to my e-mail
accounts configurations.
There were no problem when using any of my 9 alternate ISPĀ“s e-mail
SMTP
accounts (wanadoo.es, crawler.com, yahoo.es, internautas.es,
eresmas.es,
etc.).
Asked my email provider TELEFONICA.NET they did not find any reason,
no port
blocked (specially port 25 for SMTP connection sometimes they blocked
to
SPAMMERS).
I received e-mails perfectly in OUTLOOK EXPRESS POP connections (port
110)
from any of my e-mail providers, .... INCLUDING TELEFONICA.NET !!.
Tested with OFFICE EXPRESS e-mail program, ...there were NO PROBLEM
SENDING
MAIL MESSAGES THRU TELEFONICA !!.
Thinking of an OUTLOOK EXPRESS software contamination I reinstalled my
complete operating system for Windows XP Pro. After updating all
Microsoft
Updates, I have seen .... SAME PROBLEM AGAIN !!.
Then, a new operating system reinstallation, but now before each
Microsoft
Update item, a check. Everything worked OK till after Windows XP
Service Pack
3 installation, ...... then SAME PROBLEM AGAIN !.
What could be the problem ?.
