If you open Express, and it is configured, express will receive mail, and
outlook will not.
There are two settings within Outlook mail options
Send immediately when connected
Poll for mail every xx minutes (auto send/receive) do not set for less than
10 minutes
Then there are also various Views (eg unread mail)
