Outlook cannot logon in a VM (Windows 2003 R2 SP2) ESX server
Are you using Exchange? If not, then why did you select it?
Go to Control Panel-Mail Icon-Accounts and remove the Exchange account and
add your POP3 account.

How to ask a question:
http://support.microsoft.com/KB/555375
After furious head scratching,
asked:
| I am updating from office 2000 to office 2007 and I can not get
| outlook to work. I get the message microsoft exchange not available.
| How do I verify the outlok is on line and how do I verify that I am
| using the correct server and mailbox names?

|| I have a VM (Windows 2003 R2 SP2) on an ESX server running Citrix
|| (PS4) published applications. I had a working outlook 2003
|| installation and have subsequently upgraded to 2007 and Outlook will
|| not open with the error ‘Outlook cannot log on. Verify you are
|| connected to the network and are using the proper server and mailbox
|| name. The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable. Outlook
|| must be online or connected to complete this action. ‘
||
|| I have tried adding the RPC registry key as suggested by Microsoft KB
|| article, uninstalling and reinstalling but nothing has worked. I
|| can launch all the other applications without any problems. I have
|| tested the same installation on a Virtual Workstation and outlook
|| works fine. I have rebuilt the server a few times but get the same
|| problem every time which is very frustrating!
||
|| I am able to reverse lookup and ping the exchange server as well
||
|| Any suggestions are very welcome!
