They have BT accounts. Try as I have done, I can't get my email to
leave while I'm with them.

If it's true that BT uses Yahoo as the mail provider, then configuring
your outgoing server to use the same credentials that the incoming
server uses and employing the Yahoo-specified ports (587 for outgoing,
I believe) and security should allow you to obtain your mail no matter
what network you're using for the connection.
