I'm sorry... I just need to vent a little.

I've been a programmer for more than 35 years. One of my 'degree'
requirements was to actually write a compiler and an operating system.
Rudimentary they may have been, but they worked! Since then I've programmed
in more than 17 languages (LOST COUNT!!!) productively and profitabley. And
NO WHERE did I ever write a newer or updated program that went BACKWARDS in
its capabilities.

We have, today, virtually unlimited computing power and space. And yet the
programs that we are getting from everywhere, it seems, are bigger, sloppier,
and more poorly written than my first attempt at SPSII. Does no one believe
in 'elegant code' any more other than the folks that write for Psion or Palm
or that kind of system?

And now we have to go BACKWARDS?????

WHAT GIVES!?!?!?!

Thank you... I feel better now... even though I know that no more than a
dozen folks will ever see this post.

No need to reply.... I was just venting.... That's what happens when you
have a broken ankle and cannot get off the couch for a week!!
