Default change default pst file outlook 2000

i am using outlook in internet mail only. when i click on the pst file that
outlook is using as default i cannot uncheck that box (it is greyed out).
when i try clicking to check the box on the pst file i want nothing happens
(i check it, exit outlook and when i restart it the box is unchecked). so
right now all my in and out mail is going to one of my archive pst folders.
further, my contacts are all in a pst folder that was my outlook pst, but
outlook does not recognize that contact list (so when i go to compose an
email, while in either of the pst accounts, my email contacts are not
recognized)

re the renaming-when i ran the 2gb and pst file repair tool my inbox was put
in a folder called lost and found and all the inbox was renamed recovered
folder. i want to eliminate the lost and found folder and ge the recovered
folder renamed as my inbox.

any additional guidance that you can provide would be appreciated. in one
sense i am glad that the solution is not an obvious thing that i should be
able to figure out on my own.

i had a problem with a pst file that was larger than 2g using outlook 2000.
i
fixed it but now outlook is receiving mail to an archive folder, not my
outlook pst folder.

This means that you selected the archive PST and changed its properties to
be the delivery location.

how do i change it so that email-both in and out goes to
that pst account.

Depends on whether you're using Internet Mail Only mode or
Corporate/Workgroup mode. For the former, select the root of the PST you
want to be the delivery location, click FIleProperties and you should see a
box you can check to specify the PST as the delivery location. For CW mode,
click ToolsServices and on the Delivery tab select the PST you want to be
the delivery location.

further, when i ran the repair tool it renamed my inbox,
how do i rename it .

Renamed it to what? Outlook 2000 doesn't seem to have the /resetfoldernames
command switch, but try starting it once with the /resetfolders command
switch (see http://support.microsoft.com/kb/197180). If this doesn't work,
you'll need to create a new PST, make it the delivery location, then move
the data from the old PST to the new one. You can then close the old one
and, after closing Outlook, delete it from disk if you wish.
