3: Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant
layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems
such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program
will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see:

For some programs, turning it off is not enough. You may have to uninstall
it and reinstall in Custom Mode and opt out of e-mail scanning when
offered.

Note: The more often you compact, the less time it should take.

Each compacting of messages in my OE (v. 6.00.2900.5512) turns into a
nightmare - it takes about 30 minutes, sometimes more. Is it right? There
is "a few minutes" in the primary message! The file sizes is: Inbox.dbx -
475 Mb, Sent Item.dbx - 390 Mb.

How can I fix this?
