Default Top Posting Protocol For Microsoft Software

I think "VanguardLH" heard you the /first/ time you replied to him with this
identical post.

Sheesh! Give it a rest.

No...

You miss the point.

The old material is down there for perusal by those who have not been
following the thread OR who have poor memories -- OR who want to refresh
their memories -- OR who want to focus on a particular statement and
respond to, highlight, agree with, carp about or critique it.

NO need to put all that baggage up front.

By the same logic, NEWSPAPERS put the Most Important News -- the NEW News
on the TOP PAGE -- NOT the bottom page.

There is simply NO reason to force the alert, witting, intelligent reader
to slog through all that old stuff again.

Microsoft had it RIGHT initially in Outlook Express...TOP POSTING as the
DEFAULT.

WLM and OUTLOOK seem to have followed that lead -- although WLM has wimped
a bit and is making it easier for bottom posters to switch.

But CHOICE of Top or Bottom Posting for the dullards -- and taking it to
the UI rather than through Registry Changes was a reasonable action --
given the MARKET, which has many dullards, who need to bottom post.

So, MS dumbs things down to the LCD...

Understandable...

Even If Disappointing.

Put the New Material at the TOP. [DSH]

But then why bother top-posting? Since the idea is that you expect no
one to read the quoted content below your reply to provide context for
your reply then there is no point in quoting at all. Just reply without
any quoting (which makes top- versus bottom-posting completely
irrelevant).

Saves time and effort for witting, alert, intelligent readers, who can
remember what they read. Dullards often cannot.
