You're probably right, but I've been forced to try to read minds for a lot
of years here and the number of times users refer to DL's as groups is
higher than I can count.

Yes. But. It's more probable that as Outlook uses the name "distribution
list" in File-New-DISTRIBUTION LIST, the OP would probably have mentioned
"Distribution List" rather than Group. He didn't. he used the word
"Group". And as you know, in the L/H pane in Contacts view is a link that
says "make new GROUP". So I assert that my assumption is probably more
correct than yours.
But as you say, we may never know because the OP hasn't responded...
