Default Can't Send Mail With Outlook Express POP3

Chris

This is caused by your Anti Virus scanning your emails

Have you tried to disable your Anti Virus scanning of in and outgoing emails. On
some Anti Virus suites you will need to uninstall the program and then re-install
it without the email integration(scanning) otherwise the scanning will not disable.

I can receive mail from all my accounts. Interestinglingly I can send mail
with with my hotmail HTTP account but cant send with my Hotmail POP3 account.
I get the error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'POP3', Server:
'smtp.live.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error:
10051, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I tried deleting the POP3 account and making a new one but this did not
solve the problem. I have set Norton not to scan incoming or outgoing
messages.

According to the archives
http://support.microsoft.com/default.asp

The client connects to a port that is blocked or unavailable on the mail
server. If the client is trying to send a message, the blocked port is 25

However the other two mail accounts in OE6 also use port 25 to send mail and
don't have any problem.

Does anyone know if Hotmail are experiencing problems with their SMTP
outgoing mail server?

Could it be that my POP3 settings are not correct?
I am using the settings below:

Chris
