Grouping and sorting are not the same. Sorry you see it as a gripe that I
pointed this out. It's a bit like saying to a mathematician that adding and
multiplying are the same.
The functions in Outlook are confusing enough without using incorrect
terminology.
I work on a simple premise that people come here for advice and that part of
my role as an MVP is to do my best to make sure that the advice here is
correct.

Well excuse me!
On My Computer using OUTLOOK 2007
I do not care about the build or the SP or anything else.
When I go to View-Current- View-BY CATEGORY
I see a list of my contacts They are ARRANGED by Category.
If you do not consider this sorted then you must follow the Bill Clinton
School of Epistomolgy.
I turn to the groups for support. And I am very Dismayed by the Freakin
attitude taken on by the MVP's in their Hostile Attitude and Snide
snippetts.
Sorry But enough is enough!
PAPA FRANK
PS I top posted because that makes more sens to ME!!!!~

PapaFrank: You CANNOT sort by Categories and have never been able to in
any version of Outlook.

Viewed by Category or Sort by category.
I see what CAF is referring to.
Just check your current view setting.

You are mistaken. Contacts can never be sorted by Category. Category
sort is meaningless since any contact may be listed
under multiple categories.
State what isn't happening that you think should. Specify the view and
its settings.
Are you confusing sorting with grouping?

Until today, my contacts were sorted by catagories. They no longer are
and I
receive a message that you cannot sort by this field. What happened?
