Default Outlook 2000 Hangs

Have you tried deleting and recreating the profile? Or rename the hidden file
outcmd.dat and even delete the .srs file? Are you able to open Outlook in
safe mode?

Having the same problem here. Tried to do a repair on Microsoft Office but
the installer hangs before prompting with system settings.

Also tried doing an update from Microsoft Office Update's website, but it
hangs shortly after downloading patches. We have Office Pro 2000 SR1.

Kathleen, I disabled the antivirus. Didn't help. No virus' on the PC, no
spyware. I did turn on the preview pane and each message was displayed in
the pane. It seems that any operation that requires opening any kind of
window within Outlook makes it hang. Can't create a new message, forward
or reply. No add-ins, fax software or anything else. Thanks, Diane

Out of the blue a user's Outlook is hanging when you try to open any
message. The program opens a bit slow but opens the mailbox and
displays
the messages. Trying to create a new message also hangs. Can use the
file
toolbar fine. The mailbox is on Exchange 5.5. There is no problem when
the
users mailbox is configured on a different PC. I have removed the
Exchange
service from the PC. I have removed/reinstalled Office to no avail.
Searched the MS KB couldn't find anything. The PC connects to the
network
without a problem. The user's mailbox appears to be fine. No spyware.
Same anti-virus software for years. I did add another user's mailbox to
the
PC with the same hanging problem. Please help. Thanks, Diane
