Can I delete Outlook Express and re-install
Q. "Have you ever been able to access (a) *this* account (not any other ones)
in OE".
A. Yes.
Q. "since you switched from Comcast to Qwest"?
A. No. This is when it all started. I have deleted all references to Comcast
I could find. Even searched registry for any other reference to Comcast.
Q. "Is it a
account or a
account"?
A. I have a email address at
(one I've had for at least 7
years. It was my surfing junk mail account when I had other providers) which
is now my only active email account now. I had a email account name with
Comcast through OE. I would just open OE and it would sign on to Comcast and
get my mail. Which is what it is still trying to do now with Hotmail.
Q. "Is this account associated with Qwest's Partner Agreement with MSN and
can you access this account in MSN Mail"?
A. Not sure I know what you mean. When I got Qwest, MSN said welcome to MSN.
Don't really remember. Been to long. I use Hotmail because OE became unusable.
IN RE the Comcast account:
Q. "OE Tools | Accounts | Mail: Select (highlight) the Comcast account and
press the REMOVE button."
A. Comcast is not listed as asked above. Hotmail is shown as default.

1. Have you ever been able to access (a) *this* account (not any other ones)
in OE (b) since you switched from Comcast to Qwest? If yes, when was the
last time you accessed this account in OE with Qwest as your ISP?
2. Is it a
account or a
account?
3. Is this account associated with Qwest's Partner Agreement with MSN and
can you access this account in MSN Mail?
IN RE the Comcast account:
1. OE Tools | Accounts | Mail: Select (highlight) the Comcast account and
press the REMOVE button.
(Why this account is present in the new identity is anyone's guess unless
you still have some Comcast software installed.)

I set up a new idenity. I went to transfer my hotmail account. I get this
message-
"Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail',
Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol:
HTTPMail, Server Response: 'This operation is not permitted for this type
of
client.', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 1203, Error Number:
0x800CCCF7".
And this-
"There was a problem logging onto your mail server. Your Password was
rejected. Account: 'Joe', Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Protocol: POP3,
Server
Response: '-ERR login failed', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error:
0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92".
Well, well, well. I printed the link you gave.
http://www.insideoe.com/problems/errors.htm#crash
. Started to do the
steps.
Went to open OE and magically, it opened. I have done nothing since my
last
post. It opened. I see I have one hotmail folder but that's it. No other
hotmail folders.
It tried to go to mail.comcast.net. I got this message-"Dialing attempt
1.
Unable to establish a connection".
Of course it won't connect, I don't have Comcast account! It goes to
"work
offline". I have to uncheck the work offline in tools on the MSN home
page
just to get to this page!
I tried to delete the other people from the account but I do not have
their
passwords.
Comcast is no help because I don't have an account. Show me where in the
settings are so I can delete comcast as my mail client and make hotmail
as
my client.

2. Once you get OE to open, see this page for instructions on how to
access your Hotmail account in OE via POP3:
http://windowslivehelp.com/solutions...k-express.aspx
3. Closely adhere to the following caveats to avoid such problems in the
futu
- Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local
folders created for this purpose.
- Empty Deleted Items folder daily.
- Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working
offline". More at
http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm
- Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not
attempt
to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic
Compacting is taking place.
- Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause
corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional
protection:

Sorry, been out of town.
Do you mean create a new OE identity or a new Hotmail identity? If new
OE, it will not even open to get to the login screen. The last time it
did open,
I don't believe there were any Hotmail folders.

Whatever's not working, it is not true that you can no longer access a
free
Hotmail account in OE.
Meanwhile the last I heard from you was...
I'll try your suggestions.
Waiting for feedback.

Well, something's wrong. It won't open.

You can no longer send HOTMAIL from OE. Have to use Windows Live
Mail. Goto Microsoft for info and possible download of Windows
Live Mail. Google is your friend (at least sometimes).
Can I delete Outlook Express and re-install? I had Comcast
broadband and it
was linked to that but now I have Qwest. I use Hotmail.I can
compose and send
but it never sends. It just sits in my out box. I hit
send/receive but it
goes nowhere. It just sits there waiting. I would like to make
OE my mail
client again.
