Default Outlook - how it knows messages already downloaded??

MMM, Thanks But doesn't Really help as I have New Pc and dont want to
download Hundreds of Messages again to have Duplicates and have to spend
hours deleting unwanted ones. I was hoping the info wouldbe in a file
somewhere so I could transfer it to the new Pc, Like the .pst, .nk2, .dat etc.

Outlook and the mail server cooperate to assign a value called a UIDL to
each message. Outlook remembers the UIDLs of messages it has downloaded.
If it sees a message with the same UIDL, it does not download it again.

Where does it store this info?

That's a good question and I've never seen a definitive answer and it
probably varies depending on the Outlook version. I suspect it's in the
registry for current Outlooks.
