Default in new event how do I stop end date updating

I prefer Monthly view but as you mentioned it I tried weekly view and don't
have the same problem. I suppose this means that I will have to change to
weekly view every time I add an event or put up with the incrementing end
date every time.

I'm using Vista. Events range from 1/2 hour to most of day but nearly always
starting & ending on same day. In the 'New Event' dialogue box I select the
start time and as soon as I do the end date changes to the following day so
that I have to re-select it as the start day.

What view are you using when you create the event? Exactly what do you click
to open the "New Event" dialogue?
