Does AutoComplete still work in the TO field of a new message, a
reply to a message, and/or a forward of a message?

Yes, AutoComplete still works if I start to type a name such as Steve or
any name beginning with the letters from R to Z, but nothing appears if I
try a name starting with, say, A.

Do you have over 999 contacts in Address Book?

No. Probably had no more than 100 in total, even when the "A" to "Q" names
were there - now there's only about 20.

Is MS Outlook also installed and did you just install an Outlook
update?

Outlook is _not_ installed, just Outlook Express, and I've not noticed any
updates/hotfixes for OE recently.

Thanks for trying to help,

Pete

OK this is very weird. Just booted up my machine (Win XP Pro SP3,
fully updated, anti-virused, anti-spywared and anti-malwared to the
hilt) and my Outlook Express (6.00.2900.5512 (xpsp.080413-2105)
address book has lost all
names/addresses from the letter "A" to "Q" - "R" to "Z" are still all
there
OK, but A to Q have all gone.

This is my own personal computer and no-one else uses it, so I've
never set
up "identities" or "users" or whatever - just boot up, open OE and
start using email.

What the hell has happened and where have they gone? Can I get them
back? TIA,

Pete
