It's a long shot but try running a disk check on the machine to make sure
there aren't any issues there.

I did find the ScanPST.exe file and tried to scan the file - it went thru
phase 1-8 and 4-8 fine but as it went into phase 7-8 a message came up:

An error has occurred which caused the scan to be stopped. No changes have
been made to the scanned file.
