Default multiple email accounts -- different computers (Orange Home IS

Many thanks, DL and Expert, these are helpful in that they help me understand
more where I am with Orange and Outlook.

If I understand your posts correctly it it seems that there is no way of
clearing different emails on different computers where the emails are running
off the same account --- ie the @xxx.freeserve.co.uk is same but name before
the @ is different.

This kind of defeats the object of having different email addresses though
with the same account?!? Surely there must be a way round this as this would
be a fundamental prob for any houseshare/family/etc.

I would've thought that Orange and Microsoft would see this as a pretty
fundamental flaw. Perhaps most simply this should be something picked up in
Rules in Outlook.

Wonder if anyone else has any thoughts about this. For example, perhaps it's
possible to have totally different email addresses (ie even the
@xxx.freeserve.co.uk different) running from the same account --- Orange
can't seem to give me a straight answer.

[By the way we run Office Home and Student 2007 with Outlook 2007 separate.
Hence the multi-computer usage]

Best wishes

Graeme

Unless the email addresses are unique, ie seperate username / password you
cannot leave only certain msgs on the server (in Outlook)
OutlookAccount SettingsInternet E-Mail SettingsMore SettingsAdvanced
tick Leave a Copy on the server
Rules work when a msg is downloaded to Outlook, they are of no use to you in
this scenario
Outlook 2007 is not available to install on 3 PC's (From a single purchase)
Office 2007 (a version that includes Outlook) can be installed on 2 PC's for
use by the same user
Office H&S can be installed on 3 PC's for use by a family, on a none
commersial basis, but doesnt include Outlook

Hi everyone

We have an ISP account with Orange (Livebox Home) in the UK and have
recently bought Outlook 2007.

I've spoken to Orange and they tell me that they're "not trained to give
advice about how to set up multiple email addresses across different
computers using rules on Outlook 2007" --- they say they're only trained
to
provide settings for Outlook Express (bizarre, I know, in this world where
everyone uses Outlook, but there you go...). They advised me I have to
contact Microsoft or those in the know.

My wife and I have seperate email addresses:

We also have separate computers --- I have two laptops (one running on
Vista, one on XP) and she has one (running on XP).

Naturally, we want to be able to clear our separate email addresses on the
different computers without clearing each other's emails off the server.

Can anyone please let us know what account settings and rules we need on
each other's computers to make sure that we only clear our respective
emails
and leave each other's on the server.

There don't seem to be any particular rules in Outlook 2007 for leaving
emails on the server (in the way that Orange says there are rules in
Outlook
Express), only rules applied after the message arrives.

[For interest, here is the advice that Orange has for working with
multiple
email addresses using Outlook Express --

Very much appreciate any advice you may have.

Many thanks and best wishes

Graeme
