This kind of defeats the object of having different email addresses though
with the same account?!? Surely there must be a way round this as this would
be a fundamental prob for any houseshare/family/etc.

While DL is essentially correct, provided your two addresses deliver messages
to the same mailbox, I'll disagree with his statement that rules "are not
going to help." It doesn't really matter that rules work after the messages
are downloaded. If you each configure Outlook to leave messages on the server
and use a rule that deletes all messages except for those addressed to your
particular address, you should be OK.
