Further suggestion -
Your ISP might be the same as your friends, but if I was to use my OE
settings at someone else's house, even though the owner used the same
ISP, my settings for SMTP would not work because my email address and
password are allied to my home phone number? You will be able to
receive, but may not be able to send unless you use your friends SMTP
settings.
Comcast doesn't (nor most other U.S. cable HSI providers) work that way. My
sister could easily use 'smtp.comcast.net' from my AT&T Yahoo! HSI
connection (DSL). While U.S. DSL providers are more likely to work as
yours, I could use either 'smtp.pacbell.yahoo.com', or
'smtpauth.sbcglobal.net' from her Comcast connection, as well.
