Default removing attendees without notifying

How can I remove attendees without notifying them? It seems that some things
(changing a reminder timing) I can do by saving and not sending. Other
things (changing meeting notes, which I certainly don't always want to show),
only let's me discard changes or send them. It seems there's some sequencing
that needs to be done (first remove, save, then change all you want), but
even that doesn't always seem to let me remove without notifying.

Any help appreciated. Thx.
