Default OE Compacting problem

"Stephen" wrote in message ...
Specific problem:

In the last couple of weeks, Outlook Express has a pop-up every couple of
minutes that tells me I can save space if I compact the folders.

I clicked ok once. My inbox got deleted.

Next time, before clicking Ok, open Task Manager at its Applications tab
and find the list item which corresponds to that prompt window.
Then right-click Go To Process. If the Image name is not msimn.exe
and if you already have msimn.exe running I would click on Cancel,
not Ok. The best time to click on Ok IMO is just after you have closed
OE and the Go To Process procedure finds that the prompt is coming
from msimn.exe as it is closing. However, if you can remember to,
just before closing OE, setting Work Offline (Alt-F,W), going back to
the root node (Ctrl-y,Home,Enter) and doing Compact All Folders
(Alt-F,F,F) would accomplish the same thing without another prompt.
